Anna Ternheim & Friends

December 11, 2008

Anna Ternheim recently invited some of her fellow Swedish songsters to record a wonderful acapella version of “Summer Rain”, off her new album Leaving On a Mayday. Featured in the clip are Ane Brun, Nina Kinert, Ellekari Larsson from The Tiny and Johanna och Klara from First Aid Kit. It was filmed Christian Haag in Decibel Studios, Stockholm:

Those Running Days

Those Dancing Days

After creating a buzz with their self-titled EP, Those Dancing Days are back with a brand new track, “Run Run”. The song is the first single from the Swedes up-coming debut album which will be distributed by Wichita Recordings.

Words can not express how much I love these girls and their cheerful indie-pop, so I’ll just settle with posting their latest video and one of their songs.

Be sure to check out the “Run Run” single on 7 July.

The Radio Dept. are releasing a new 3 track single on June 4th, “Freddie and The Trojan Horse”. You can already download the lead track for free though, thanks to the band’s label, Labrador.

The song, which is about “the untruthfulness of the Swedish right-wing government and how the leading party seized power by portraying itself as supportive of the workers”, is the first taste from the up-coming album “Clinging To A Scheme” due to be out on September 10.

By the way – “Freddie” = Fredrik Reinfeldt, Sweden’s Prime Minister.

The Search

April 20, 2008

I first heard The Search about a year ago when stumbling over one of their songs online. The song, “Love Shock” was a throwback to the 80’s synthpop, something which I rarely can resist. So yeah, I got hooked.

Unfortunately I didn’t find anything else by the band for a long time. But a few days ago I got an e-mail about their up-coming album Saturnine Songs along with some MP3s – yay!

And what can I say? The Swedes are still staying true to their synthpop sound, although it seems a bit more polished this time around. The press release mentions The Cure and Joy Division as comparisons, but personally I think they sound more like mixture between 80s band Blue Nile and fellow Swedes The Ark.

Either way, I like it!

Saturnine Songs will be available worldwide on April 25th.
